European settlers had established in Greenvale in the 1840s with land mostly used for farming purposes, grazing and cropping. The area’s first school opened in 1868. The school, church, and recreation reserve, established as the district’s centre. As the land was fertile settlers began farming. Greenvale was a rural community up until the late 1980s when the area expanded largely and shopping centres, schools and recreational facilities opened.
